The congress will introduce some of the numerous, seemingly similar and yet rather different, schools of thought, born within China and outside of it that have developed through several millennia and have become an integral part of the medical approaches available to patients worldwide.

We shall learn how East Asian Medicine spread from its original cradle to the whole world and how different interpretation and clinical application have enriched it and allowed it to establish itself in so many different countries and cultural contexts and groups.

At the congress, internationally renowned experts will illustrate the theoretical and clinical applications of some schools of thought born out of an apparent common view of the human body, its place in the world, the conditions that foster health and, on the other hand, those that lead to disease.

The 2022 edition of the Milan Acupuncture Congress will be broadcasted live streaming.

Aim of the Congress

East Asian medicine, now diffused in the whole world, is said to be rooted in the thought and practice of the East Asian doctors and scholars of antiquity.

Whereas the original tenets appear to be common to all the branches into which the East Asian medical discourse has developed, it would also appear that each school has its own unique and peculiar focus. For instance, with reference to the practice of acupuncture, there are many ways of practicing and needle techniques i.e. Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese and so on.

Even within China, where various schools of thought have always existed in the past, diversity is still quite widespread, despite the fact that TCM (the product of radical reforms motivated by the need to establish the scientific value of Chinese medicine) is eagerly promoted by some, but vehemently questioned and refused by others, both within China and the West.

How can we make sense of all this? How can we find our way in the clinic?

S.I.A. – Italian Society of Acupuncture – founded in 1968, brings together Italian physicians interested in the study, deepening, application and promotion of acupuncture and other techiques of Traditional Chinese Medicine. This aim is achieved through the publication of a six-monthly journal, a quarterly bulletin, three seminars and a yearly congress for the continuing education of associates.

Centro Studi So Wen ETS is a non-profit medical-scientific association, statutorily dedicated “to scientific research, in its own private clinic and in collaboration with public / private, national and / or international health / scientific institutions; it is dedicated to training activity, also within the E.C.M. program, through courses, seminars, conferences held in residential and / or telematic form “.
